TackOn designs and runs quizzes, contests and knowledge programmes for companies, institutions and the public. We run them on this website, on WhatsApp, and at live events. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you take part, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and how you can control it.

If you only want the short version: we collect the minimum needed to run a quiz and report results to whoever commissioned it, we do not sell your data to anyone, and you can leave at any time by replying STOP on WhatsApp or writing to bvishnu@tackon.org.

1. Who is responsible for your data

TackOn is the data fiduciary for the information described here, except where we run a quiz on behalf of a client organisation (for example, an employer running an engagement programme for its staff). In those cases the client is the data fiduciary and TackOn is the data processor acting on their written instructions. Either way, the protections in this policy apply.

2. What we collect

When you play a quiz on WhatsApp

• Your WhatsApp phone number and WhatsApp profile name

• The messages you send us and the messages we send you

• Your answers, scores, response times, streaks and rank

• Timestamps of when you started and finished

When you use this website

• Information you enter into contact or registration forms: name, email address, phone number, organisation

• Standard technical data your browser sends: IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, referring page

When you take part in an event or a client programme

• Your name, email address, phone number and, where the client provides it, your employee identifier, department or location, used only to group and report results

We do not collect payment card details on this website. We do not ask for and do not want government identifiers, health information, or any other sensitive personal data in order to run a quiz. Please do not send them to us.

3. Why we collect it

• To deliver the quiz: send you questions, receive your answers, score them, and show you your result

• To produce leaderboards, streaks, certificates and prizes

• To report participation and scores to the organisation that commissioned the programme, in the format agreed with them

• To respond to enquiries you send us

• To keep the service working and secure, and to diagnose faults

• To meet our legal, tax and audit obligations in India

We rely on your consent, given when you message us first or fill in a form, and on the legitimate business need of the organisation running the programme. We do not use your data for automated decisions that produce legal effects.

4. WhatsApp specifically

We use the WhatsApp Business Platform to run quizzes.

• We message you only if you contacted us first, or if you were enrolled in a programme by an organisation you belong to, which confirmed to us that it had your consent. We do not buy phone number lists and we do not message strangers.

• Messages sent through WhatsApp are delivered by WhatsApp Ireland Limited / Meta Platforms, and are handled under WhatsApp's own privacy policy in addition to this one.

• We use approved WhatsApp message templates for reminders. You can stop them at any time.

• To opt out, reply STOP to any of our messages, or block the number. We will stop sending you quiz messages within one working day and remove you from the programme's list.

• We never ask for passwords, OTPs, bank details or payment information over WhatsApp. If a message claiming to be from TackOn asks for any of those, it is not from us — report it to bvishnu@tackon.org.

5. Who we share it with

We share personal data only with:

• The organisation that commissioned the quiz, where a client is running a programme for its own people. They receive participation and score data as agreed in our contract with them.

• Meta Platforms / WhatsApp, as the messaging channel, and our WhatsApp Business Solution Provider where one is used, purely to deliver and receive messages.

• Google LLC, where quiz content, responses and scores are stored and processed in Google Workspace services.

• Wix.com Ltd, which hosts this website and processes website form submissions and analytics.

• Professional advisers, auditors and authorities, where we are required by Indian law to disclose.

We do not sell personal data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use your quiz answers to target advertising to you.

Some of these providers store data outside India. Where that happens we rely on the provider's contractual data protection commitments.

6. How long we keep it

• Quiz responses and scores: up to 24 months from the date of the quiz, or less where a client contract requires earlier deletion. After that we keep only anonymous, aggregated statistics that cannot identify you.

• WhatsApp conversation records: up to 12 months.

• Website enquiry forms: up to 24 months from your last contact with us.

• Records we must keep for tax and audit: as long as Indian law requires, currently eight years for accounting records.

When a client programme ends, we delete or return the participant data on the client's written instruction.

7. How we protect it

Access to participant data is restricted to the TackOn staff who need it to run the programme. Data in transit is encrypted. Accounts holding participant data require multi-factor authentication. We review access when staff join or leave. No system is perfectly secure, and if a breach affects your data we will notify you and the Data Protection Board of India as required by law.

8. Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may ask us to:

• Tell you what personal data of yours we hold and who we have shared it with

• Correct data that is wrong or incomplete

• Delete your data, where we are not required to keep it

• Withdraw consent you previously gave, at any time

• Nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf if you die or become incapacitated

Write to bvishnu@tackon.org with the phone number or email you used, and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge. If we run the programme on behalf of a client, we may need to route your request through them, and we will tell you if that is the case.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

9. Children

Our quizzes are open to school students when a school or a competition organiser enrols them. In those cases we collect participant data only through the school or organiser, which is responsible for obtaining parental consent. We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from a child under 18 without that consent. If you believe we have, write to bvishnu@tackon.org and we will delete it.

10. Cookies

This website uses cookies that are necessary for it to function, and analytics cookies that tell us which pages are visited. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, though some features may not.

11. Changes to this policy

We update this policy when our practices change. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Material changes affecting how we use data you have already given us will be notified to you directly where we have a way to reach you.
